Norwynne is a graphic memoir that shares my experiences in life by alternating between the real world and a fantasy world, created to cope with social anxiety, and later as an outlet for creativity and friendship.
This book was my capstone project for my degree in graphic design. It took everything I learned in those four years to create something that I am truly happy with.
Chapter One: Sanctuary
Chapter One follows me, Lizzy, through anxiety filled middle school, and the protagonist of the fantasy world through her journey to slay an apocalypse-bringing king.
Chapter Two: Destruction
Chapter Two follows me through high school, as I learn to combat my anxiety.
As this happens, Norwynne, the fantasy world, falls into disrepair and distortion.
Chapter Three: Reborn
Chapter Three leaves me at college, with the tools I needed to manage my anxiety. Allowing me to revisit Norwynne, and make it something special.
The Process
Norwynne is the product of eight months of hard work and dedication. Ideating, concept work, drawing, and writing brought this book together. These pictures are a small fraction of what my process looked like.
The Show
As a class, we all got to display our projects in a gallery show, to show all of our hard work.
